General Advice 3 days per week
Our professional advisor provides free advice on topics such as housing, benefits, universal credit, disability, family issues, benefit appeals, domestic abuse and other issues causing stress and difficulties for families. We can advise how to manage limited finances. Our Adviser can help those with a fear of domestic abuse and make appropriate referrals if necessary CURRENTLY THIS IS A TELEPHONE SERVICE available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 5pm. Where clients have specific issues identified by our general advisors Damask can provide a limited number of sessions with a qualified COUNSELLOR or with a professional HEALTH COACH. Damask advisors may also signpost clients to other organisations able to provide specialist help or to Seymour Street Methodist Church staff who can provide practical help or pastoral support.
If you have become more isolated at home due to the COVID outbreak we can offer a telephone befriending service in which one of our volunteer befrienders will make a regular telephone call with you to chat informally and check that you are ok. Ring our Advice Phone number for more information
Domestic Abuse
Victims of Domestic Abuse are encouraged to phone our Helpline where our experienced Advisor and Counsellor can provide understanding and support to help clients take the steps necessary for their safety and well-being and also deal with the trauma resulting from abuse. Clients can be referred to more specialist agencies when necessary. A series of free Counselling Sessions can be provided by Damask the help clients overcome the trauma of domestic abuse.
